MINUTES OF AGM HELD ON SUNDAY 13th JANUARY 2008

AT PORTOBELLO INDOOR BOWLING CLUB 12:00HRS

 

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE :-

 

COLIN PENMAN, JEFF JOHNSTON, BILL JOHNSTON, STRUAN KYTE, ALLAN KYTE, RICHARD GRANNUM, KAREN MORRISON, JOE McGREGOR.

 

 

ITEMS DISCUSSED AT MEETING :-

 

1. FINANCIAL REPORT – Although report shows Club outgoings for season 2007 at £778 (which includes Website charges for 2007 & 2008, which will now be paid on an annual basis and a £50 deposit sent to cover this years Girvan trip in September) the Club still managed to increase Balance from £696 to £838 as of the 11/01/08. This was mostly down to the effort of member Kenny Scott selling a midweek Bonusball sheet at AMT Ltd which boosted Club Funds greatly.

 

2. MEMBERSHIP FEES/CLUB BONUSBALL FORMAT – These topics were discussed during our Club meeting back in November and it was felt, at the time, should be decided upon at AGM. In the meantime the Club Committee decided that as the club was still in a Financially Healthy position they recommended that no changes to Membership Fees or Bonusball Format were required as long as present fund raising sources continued at the same levels. (AGREED)

 

3. TRIP CALENDAR 2008 – To save any individuals feeling they were being charged unfairly the Committee recommended that PER HEAD PRICES for the trips at BERWICK, DUNBAR & ANSTRUTHER during 2008 would be set at £20 (with shortfalls paid from Club funds) as long as there were a minimum of 10 Adults aboard and only if Charter Prices stayed at present costs. Rod Hire costs on Oban trips would also be covered by Club funds. (AGREED)

 

 

4. FISH OF THE YEAR 2007 – As many members will be aware, weather conditions put paid to the expected nominations being supplied by the trips to OBAN & GIRVAN. The Committee then had a look at the Club Records that had been set during 2007 and recommended that the heaviest fish out of the 5 entries, Scot Thomson’s Thornback Ray (4lb 11oz) caught at Loch Etive, be FISH of The YEAR. (AGREED)

 

5. OFFICE BEARERS FOR SEASON 2008 – Attending Members voted for keeping the same Office Bearers as last year :-

 

CHAIRMAN – JOE McGREGOR

SECRETARY – COLIN PENMAN

TREASURER – JEFF JOHNSTON

TRUSTEES – ROBERT ROBB & BILL JOHNSTON

 

 

 

6. A.O.C.B. - It was decided that we would hold a meeting half way between annual AGM’s (August/September) to discuss trip venues for the following year. It was felt this would allow us to get desired Venues & Dates. Secretary Colin and other members present highlighted that more of our members were becoming dictated by shift work asked that this meeting be more for the organising of specialised trips. (AGREED)

 

It was also decided, that especially on Competition Trips, that names and boat positions be drawn to make it as fair as possible.
